Week of February 10-14th
Math Night
Thursday, February 13, 2020 from 5:30- 7:00 pm will be Family Math Night. Students will get the opportunity to will engage in math stations designed by the second grade teachers.
Book Fair
The Book Fair will begin on Monday and ends on Thursday. It will be open during Math Night. If you would like for your child to purchase books, please send the money in an envelope or ziplock bag with their name written on it.
Valentine's Day
Valentine's Day will be Friday, February 14th. I will be absent from school on Thursday, February 13th and Friday, February 14th. Students are welcome to bring Valentines cards to share with their classmates on Wednesday, February 12th ONLY. If they plan to write on their hearts, they should only fill in the (FROM) portion. STEAM Day
Friday, February 14th will be a half -day STEAM Day for students. If there are any changes in which your child will get home, please send a note or classtag me.
Character Day
Character Day is also on February 14th and students can dress as a famous African-American. Please be reminder that this is different from your child's Wax Museum class project.
President's Day
Monday, February 17th is President's Day and school will be closed .
African American History Presentations
Our African American History Presentations will take place in our classroom on Tuesday, February 25th @ 9:30 and 12:00.

This week’s reading selection: The Stranger and the Soup
Summary: A mysterious stranger appears in a village that is suffering a food shortage due to drought. Although he is not welcomed at first, the stranger has a secret ingredient to help the hungry villagers survive a harsh winter.
Essential Question: What behaviors help to create a strong community? DISCUSS with your child ways that members of your community share resources.
