We just wrapped up another fantastic week of  fun and learning.     

Math Night was a success!  A BIG THANKS  to all of you who were able to attend.   It was great seeing you.  

Please be reminded that interim reports will no longer go home unless you request it from the teacher. We are asking that all parents access Parent Portal to view students' grades and progress. If you are not able to access Parent Portal, please see our school's registrar, Mrs. Williams.

As of  March 6, 2017,  students will not receive a paper copy newsletter.   Please continue visiting  our class page for  homework assignments,  weekly skills, important dates, and additional information.

Family Health Night

The Killian Elementary School Health Council will hold our Family Health Night on Tuesday, March 14, from 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm. We will start in the multi-purpose room at 6:00 with our kindergarten, 1 st , 2nd , and 3rd graders singing for us. We will have several fitness stations you can visit. Healthy snacks will be available and we will end the night with door prizes. Bring your family and come join the fun!

February 20, 2017 

We have had a wonderful week!   
Students had a magnificent time during the Jumprope for Heart Flash Mob.   They danced, jumped rope, and  exerted a lot of energy during the event. . Throughout the week, they gained information on  how to be heart-healthy.   Each student received a jump rope to continue jumping at home.  


On Valentines Day, the students passed out and received cards. Thanks Mrs. Toomer for the delicious treats!     A special thanks for all  the cards and gifts I received.   

As of  the current marking period, students' interim reports will no longer go home unless you request it from the teacher. This week, students will learn about severe weather.   Each student should bring in two identical water bottles to make a tornado by Tuesday.  

The Book Fair will begin on Monday.  If you would like for your child to purchase books at the book fair, please send the money in an envelope with the following: book fair, student's name, my name, and the amount enclosed. (ex. Book Fair,  Nicholas Solomons,  Ms. Dailey's Class, $20) I will make sure your child visits the book fair to make his/her selection.

Tuesday, February 21, 2017 @ 5:00  will be Family  Math Night . Students will get the opportunity to will engage in math stations designed by the second grade teachers.  I look forward to seeing each of you!

Beginning Monday,  the spelling/ vocabulary choice board activity sheet will change. Student will only focus on vocabulary words.   They will have the option of completing 3 or 4 assignments  from this sheet weekly. The reading and math assignments will remain the same.

Greetings!  

Our highlights  for the week include creating a weather forecast and completing our science fair project. I have posted pictures on Twitter for you to view.

Valentines Day will be  Tuesday, February 14, 2017.     Below you will find a class list  if you plan to purchase hearts for your child to share.   Additionally, student  are asked to bring in a Valentine's Day mail box to hold their cards. These boxes can be easily made out of cereal boxes or shoe boxes.  (See examples below)

The Killian School Health Council purchased a jump rope for every Killian student. To celebrate February and Jump Rope for Heart, we are having a flash mob next Friday, February 17! All of our students will be on the playground, hopefully in the shape of a heart (several hearts within a heart) with their jump ropes. 

Our story for the week will be A Harbor Seal Pup Grows Up. We will focus on similes and sequential order within text.     Students will take their assessments on Thursday.   Homework assignments will be given each night.

Grammar: Past tense of frequently occurring irregular verbs.

Greetings Parents!  

We  had a fantastic week!   A few highlights include creating advertisements to market goods and services in social studies, recognizing and drawing shapes in math, and making wind socks in science. I have posted pictures on Twitter for you to view.

Greetings! I hope you are doing well.   We  just wrapped up another GREAT week of school.  Report cards were sent home on Thursday and we are currently in the third  marking period.   I am very proud of my students  for continuing to make academic progress.    Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns.
